Hot Weather + Rum and Coke = Zzzzzzz

Here's what happened. Yesterday was a long hot day, so before sitting down to watch a few vids I made myself a couple of mixed drinks. I finally got around to the vids at midnight, but before I could start them I sat on the couch thinking "I just need to collect my energy before I start them". Next thing I know, it's 7 am. Fuck, whole evening fucked.

Case Closed

From a 1998 Clinton Justice department indictment of Osama Bin Laden;

In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq.

From 9-11 Commision Chairman Tom Kean;

What we have found is, were there contacts between al-Qaeda and Iraq? Yes. Some of them were shadowy - but they were there.

Yes boys and girls, Saddam and Al Qaeda had not only a non-aggression act, but also a weapons development agreement. Also, next time your leftist friends bring up the canard "but Saddam was a secularist, he would never ally with Osama" remind them that Saddam was known for building Mosques

Case Closed Ladies and Gentlemen.

Republican Scientists?

This poll by Hart Research Associates (found via FOXNews) indicates that while college students overall favor Kerry to Bush (42% to 30%) science and math majors favor Bush over Kerry (35% to 31%). Now, while this is simply a slight lead for Bush, I have to wonder what would make this one group prefer Bush? Is it that science majors are trained to test their beliefs? Is it that humanity majors are more attached to ideology? Or is it something else? Discuss amongst yourselves.

You adorable little c***

Humorous story out of Colorado University. It seems that CU presideNT Elizabeth Hoffman thinks the c-word can be used as a term of endearment.

Pop Quiz

OK students time for a quiz! What administration official once asked this of Colin Powell: "What's the point of having this superb military you're always talking about, if we can't use it?". Was it the evil-neocon Donald Rumsfeld? Was it inhuman cyborg Dick Cheney? Stupid Warmonger George W. Bush? Anwer in the extended body.

Bowling for Sweden

This just in, two teenagers in Sweden were attempting to recreate the Columbine Massacre in their country on the sixth aniversary of that event. I have two comments on this story;

A) Thank GOD they were caught before they could do it!
B) I thought it was Moore's thesis that the Columbine Massacre was caused by the American culture of fear and easy access to guns. Well how do you explain this Mikey, a country in your 'enlightened' Europe with some of the most strict gun laws and no culture of fear (according to you) and two of these kids wanted to celebrate the slaughter by recreating it?

Hard liquor makes you fat

Today I got into a little dust-up with bbartlog over at Jacquelines site, I was a little rude and I apologized. But I feel that the point I was making is still valid. Here's what happened, Jacqueline is on the Atkins diet, and to help her out I told her to steer clear of all alcohol, as it is 'directly' metabolized into fat. I should not have said directly, but I stand by my statement that ethanol consumption leads to a build-up of Fatty Acids.
Here's what I was trying to say;
to that I would add the reactions of;

Ethanol --> acetaldehyde --> acetic acid --> acetyl-CoA

This acetyl-CoA feeds into that part of the glycolytic cycle and "pushes" the reaction towards the production of Fatty Acids. I think this proves my point, that you should stear clear of alcohol if you don't want to put on weight.
